Re: I Need Some Proof... Time Travellers Post Here
Pastlife,
I rebuke almost all of your statements with the following arguments.
First of all the Heisenberg uncertainty principle has been Cracked. Scientists have been able to take an atom, and make a virtual copy of that atom, it existed only virtually but could be measured and studied and had no affect on the actual atom. I wish I could link you to the exact article, did some quick searches on google with no luck. I believe this was related to research of transistors, silicon, quantum dots, qubits, etc. Basically they were able to record things from the virtual atom that would have interrupted the actual atom, I believe magnetic fields had something to do with it as well.
Its a Long way off from being practical but it was proved in a Lab and thats good enough for me. We can measure speed and direction without altering an atom. Its just nowhere near practical yet.
As for conservation of matter/energy, a vehicle arriving from the past "may be regarded as appearing from nowhere". If Mass or energy did appear out of nowhere then the law would have been broken, but it didn't this whole theory is flawed, in this example the time machine went into the future. Its funny that you use the past to the future argument though. We are moving into the future right now, who is to say something can't take a jump into the future. I mean technically people move into the future faster the faster they Drive their car on the highway.
So basically what you are saying is because the matter wasn't there a second ago it violates the conservation of matter/energy laws. But it was there 700 something years ago, in cosmic time 700 years and 1 second means nothing. The Matter was neither Created NOR destroyed only moved in time.
I believe what the conservation of mass/energy laws are trying to show you is that it cannot be created or destroyed. the time machine in your example was neither created nor destroyed. I guess I just don't understand the argument but I would sure love to hear your side...
