Movement Through Time...

Temporal Novice
Even as I type this I'm teetering on the brink of changing my mind. Online forums are hardly the place to be having this manner of conversation. That said, however, I just can't resist the temptation to reveal to you all some time travel facts- knowing as I do that I shall be dismissed and mocked. Nonetheless, here it is, make of it what you wish...

Firstly, it's important I point out the fact I am by no means any sort of scientifically minded individual. I have noticed from browsing some of the many threads here that much discussion seems to focus on and revolve around the science and mechanics of various time travel theories. Personally, I have no specific education in such technical areas. Thankfully though, no such schooling is required to understand what I have to say.

Neither will I be claiming to be a time traveler. Whether or not I am is of no relevance to the subject.

There are many time travelers all about you. There always have been. But not in the sense you might imagine. I hate to burst the bubble but unfortunately time travel in the physical sense is neither possible now, nor ever will it be. I don't know where science is today on the various theories and/or how confident the scientific community is that one day such travel will become a reality, but sending a physical body back through time is not ever going to be possible.

But it doesn't need to be.

There is actually no such thing as time. We invented time to measure movement through space. The only time that actually exists is now. There is no past and there is no future. Only now. Tomorrow is always coming but it never comes. Forgive me if this begins to sound somewhat religious or spiritual but every one of you exists at all times. If you were to go back in time to 1912, you would not be doing so with your body as you currently know it. Your conscious mind can freely travel to 1912, however it may only occupy the physical body that your "self" occupied in 1912. Or at least one of yourselves. But that's a whole different story.

I've read some things here that are true. The grandfather paradox is not real. There are multiple infinite universes and there are new ones formed with every miniscule decision you make. The instant you scratch your head there is a universe where you didn't. Try to imagine a computer game. In order for the game to be possible, the computer must know in advance every single possible decision and move you can make. But that doesn't mean the game is predetermined, you are free to do whatever you choose within the preset confines of the game. Our reality is closer to this than you could possibly imagine.

Time travelers will very seldom brag about being time travelers because it serves no purpose. Those who do travel through time have reached a higher state of self control and understanding of the world around them. They follow no set rules because there are no set rules needed. Self governance is assured by those who have evolved the self to a point where they can not just grasp, but explore such abilities in life. Time travel was not invented either in the past, nor will it be in the future. There have always been people capable of it, and there always will be.

For the record, if I went back in time right now and killed Hitler before 1939, the affects of that action would not change a single thing here today in the reality I left behind. That would be whole new reality. The past cannot be changed. At least not within a single timeline. Thankfully.

Probably hard to believe that your mind is capable of such a feat. Far be it from me to correct science but in truth the speed of light is not the fastest speed there is. A velocity far greater, is the speed of thought...

Take care.

The "I almost got cold feet" opening gambit is almost always something posted by a student who is currently taking a creative writing course. No one believes that you were "teetering on the brink of changing [your] mind" about posting.

Convenient...about the lack of a scientific background, that is. Do you know that we have a cryptographer here who knows nothing about mathematics?

Not to worry however. We know that time travelers purposely seek out the ill educated and ignorant so that if for some reason they are stumbled upon the "stumbler" won't have a clue about anything.

But thereafter the ignorant witness will, regardless of any scientific fact presented, post their story as fact and defend the idea unto death itself that it must, absolutely must, have been a time travel incident even though it's already established and confirmed by the ignorant witness that s/he is clueless (about the science).

Neither will I be claiming to be a time traveler. Whether or not I am is of no relevance to the subject.

The "I don't care if you believe me ploy" is so old an over-used that it no longer even qualifies as a stereotype. It long ago went from stereotypical to simply trite.

In the next paragraph you're going to leave the impression, in a devious indirect way, that you really are a time traveler ... or at least (Shhhhhhhh) in the know about real time travelers ... interlopers who are lurking in the shadows everywhere.

There are many time travelers all about you. There always have been. But not in the sense you might imagine. I hate to burst the bubble...(post drones on, and on)

<snip for brevity - as well as my sanity>

I'll be damned. I was right.

Actually, no. Merely humor. The "I'm teetering" quotation you refer to is simply a light hearted and hopefully thinly veiled pun. That being "I'm teetering" as in "I'm Titor"
The rest of your critical breakdown of my original post bored me too much to want to delve any further into it. Suffice it to say that yes you are indeed correct, I am "not" a time traveler. Well done. Your towering intellect does humble us all I'm sure.

Well, tally-hoe I'm off to the future.... with every passing second....

I'm near to think the same as you but indeed no. To me all that universe can do, we can too. So here is my conclusion.
